Technology in Australia Australians have a reputation around the world as early adopters of new technology. When I moved to Sydney from Canada around 1995, I was surprised to see how many people used mobile phones. At the time, in Canada the most common method of being contactable while on the move was still pagers. I rarely saw Canadians with mobile phones. How much screen time is too much?

How much screen time? There are well established guidelines set by the Department of Health that set out how much screen time toddlers, children and adolescents should watch.  These guidelines are clear on the how much screen time is recommended, but since the advent of the ‘Digital Education Revolution’ in 2008, which resulted in kids using computers in schools, the lines have become blurred on how much screen time is too much, and whether new guidelines need to be created which take into account both educational and recreational screen time.
